Women's Health Center

The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) Women Veteran Health Program is designed to provide high quality, compassionate and comprehensive health care to women veterans in Arkansas.

It is our desire to meet the medical and mental health needs of female veterans in an environment that is comfortable and private. We are committed to serving women veterans to improve the care and services provided by working with them to address any healthcare concerns they may have.

If you are a female spouse of a military retiree or 100% service connected veteran you may also qualify for primary care. Call the Women Veteran Program Manager for more information.

LOCATION:

The Women's Health Center (WHC) is located at John L. McClellan VA Medical Center, 4300 West 7th Street, Little Rock, AR 72205. The WHC is on the first floor of the Little Rock Medical Center, off the Red Atrium and to the right of the coffee shop.

SERVICES:

  • Primary healthcare.
  • Age specific routine health assessments.
  • Health evaluation, counseling and disease prevention for nutrition, weight management, exercise, smoking cessation and substance abuse
  • Routine detection and management of disease for cardiovascular disorders, diabetes mellitus, cancer, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, endocrine disorders, including thyroid and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
  • Cervical cancer screenings, treatment and vaccines.
  • Breast care, diagnosis and treatment: breast exams, mammograms, ultrasounds, MRI (Full-time Mammography Physician on site).
  • Sexuality, Family Planning and Birth control options
  • Infertility services (limited)
  • Diagnosis of pregnancy, including risk of abnormal conditions such as ectopic pregnancy, frequent miscarriage and pre-existing conditions.
  • Referrals for the outsourcing of prenatal OB/GYN care.
  • Management of pharmacologic issues related to conception, pregnancy and lactation.
  • Menopause management.
  • Osteoporosis diagnosis and management.
  • Gynecology care and surgery (Full-time Gynecologist on site).
  • Evaluation of abdominal pain, pelvic pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding, vaginal infections, urinary incontinence, pelvic floor disorders and endocrine dysfunction.
  • Evaluations and referrals for mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, post deployment adjustment, anger management, sexual trauma, elder abuse and/or neglect, parenting issues, family/caregiver stressors, care coordination, and resource information.
