A quiet and diligent Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System bookworm has made a splash on the national level as the 2017 Federal Librarian of the Year, given by the Library of Congress’ Federal Library and Information Network (FEDLINK).

Edward Poletti, CAVHS’ chief of learning resources, will be honored with a plaque and a certificate at the annual FEDLINK Exposition held at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. Mr. Poletti’s name will also be added to a perpetual plaque listing each year’s recipients which is displayed at the FEDLINK offices at the Library of Congress.

The award acknowledges the success of the 2017 Federal Libraries Section’s Library Value Study, coordinated by Mr. Poletti. He is being recognized for his skill in survey design and statistics, and for providing his statistical talents to many other librarians needing assistance with data interpretation and survey development.

He is also slated to receive the Lois Ann Colaianni Award for Excellence and Achievement in Hospital Librarianship from the Medical Library Association. This award is presented to members who make significant contributions to the medical librarian profession.

“Ed is a true asset to everyone at the Medical Center, and to countless others throughout the federal library system,” said Dr. Margie Scott, Medical Center director. “His dedication, skill, intelligence and demeanor are amazing.  This award is very much earned and deserved.”

Mr. Poletti has served as a federal librarian for more than 36 years, and has been with CAVHS for more than 14.
